It was another busy weekend, with our youth teams back out doing what they do best: running hard, tackling well, and making the club proud across the age groups.

Here are the highlights:

Under 7s | Gethin

Our U7s enjoyed a focused session dedicated to developing core skills. The players worked through passing drills, communication exercises, and movement basics.

This week, Gethin stood out, earning Coach’s Player for his excellent listening and his ability to put coaching points into practice straight away.

Under 8s | Coby & Elsie

Without any opposition this week, it gave us the opportunity to practice some skills. The passing along the line and moving up and back as a defensive line drills paid off when we got into the matches, as patches of brilliant rugby broke out!

The two players of the week this week were Coby and Elsie. Coby was superb in attack, always in support without the ball and using his snake hips to side step opponents when he had the ball. Elsie was relentless in defence, ran hard in attack and scored some brilliant tries.

Under 9s | Liam

Player of the week goes to Liam, he listened really well and applied what the coaches were telling him. Playing as scrum half, he made one pass which didn’t go as planned, but after listening to guidance, every pass he made was on point and helped create space! Well done, Liam.

Tackler of the week was a machine today, tracking people all over the pitch and not letting them go until they were down. He wore the scars but got right back up and got back tackling. Awesome performance.

Under 10s | Arthur

Arthur was our Player of the Week this week after a really strong performance. He worked incredibly hard for the team and was involved in all aspects of the game. He had more ball carries than we’ve ever seen from him before, and when the opportunity came, he ran hard and straight, making real ground for the team.

Arthur was also always present at the breakdown, either securing the ball or being the first to arrive and distribute it quickly to keep the momentum going. In defence he kept the pressure on, getting stuck into plenty of battles and never taking a step back.

It just shows what can be achieved with determination and the right attitude. When you work hard for your teammates and back yourself when the opportunity comes, good things happen.

Well done Arthur and keep it up.

Under 11s | Sydney & Corbyn

Always known for his confidence in the ruck, Sydney showed again today why he’s such an asset to the team. He came away with multiple steals at the breakdown and consistently secured possession, giving the scrum‑halves an easy platform to work from.

Corbyn delivered a standout performance with powerful carries and a series of dominant tackles. His pinpoint clearance kick that landed perfectly into a teammate’s hands for a try was a true highlight moment.

Under 12s | Henry

Henry, who was involved in every positive move today - he was full of energy, made lots of great tackles and was very strong with his running, making lots of metres every time he got the ball. Well done Henry!

Ravens Under 12s | Tilly

Tilly's recent growth in confidence was clear to see today. She scored a fantastic try in the corner and threw herself into tackles all afternoon. A brilliant effort.

Under 13s | Toby

In a local derby, the team’s performance was key, and you couldn’t look any further than Toby’s contribution.

Toby has been out injured and hadn’t played rugby since October, but today it looked like he’d been playing the whole season. Turning the ball over at the ruck multiple times, his determination was fantastic and made a real difference to the team.

Great to have you back playing, Toby!

Ravens Under 14s | Squad

Today five U14’s Ravens joined up with new Milton RFC to play against a very strong Berkshire Warriors side. Our Ravens did themselves and the club very proud!!

It was a tough game but everyone from the two other counties will be going home knowing just how tough Wiltshire girls are!

Raven of the week goes to all 5 of them for their OUTSTANDING resilience and demonstrating what Bassett rugby is all about!

Under 15s | Squad

D&W cup final! Not our day today, unfortunately, but immensely proud of what this whole squad has achieved this season so far. And ALL the boys should be proud of themselves, too.

This is our first-ever time entering a league or cup, and we managed to place 1st and then get to the final, which is an amazing achievement.

Thanks to all the parents who made the long trek this morning. Up the Bass.

Under 15s | Daniel

Slow start and tough first half, especially at the breakdown. Adapted and grew into the game in the 2nd half and finished the better team. Really physical game.

Player of the match was Daniel for some great defensive try-saving tackles, and U14s Jack, Ben and Fin put a great shift in again.

Ravens Under 16s | Julia & Dotty

Ravens took on a competative Cheltenham North but ended up with a good win. Player of the match from the opposition was Dotty, our player of the match was Julia.
