Royal Wootton Bassett RFC Community Rugby Coach

Empowering youth through rugby

With the generous support of our sponsor Rebound Electronics, we are delighted to announce the appointment of a dedicated Community Rugby Coach (CRC) based at Royal Wootton Bassett RFC, who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of rugby in our local schools and the wider community.

Meet Rhys Floyd: Community Rugby Coach

After a rigorous selection process with numerous candidates, we are delighted to introduce Rhys Floyd as our new Community Rugby Coach.

Rhys, a senior 1st XV player in our club, who has also represented Dorset & Wilts, brings a wealth of experience and passion to this role having spent the last four years working as a sports coach within schools.

He is a dedicated member of our club, serving not only as a player but also as a coach for our junior teams and leading our popular Walking Rugby sessions. With his commitment to the sport and fostering the next generation of rugby enthusiasts, Rhys is the perfect candidate to lead this initiative.

Our vision

At Royal Wootton Bassett RFC, our commitment to rugby excellence extends far beyond the confines of our club. We understand the profound impact that this sport can have on young lives, both on and off the field.

The CRC programme aims to spark a passion for playing rugby with children who might not otherwise have any exposure to rugby, or any other organised sport.

Building bridges

The role of the Community Rugby Coach is multi-faceted and far-reaching. Rhys, in his capacity as CRC, hopes to identify new opportunities to introduce rugby to new audiences, ensuring that every participant receives a well-rounded and enriching experience.

The CRC programme aims to create a seamless transition for young people from educational environments to community clubs. By developing and delivering innovative rugby initiatives, Rhys will play a vital role in fostering a love for the sport that endures well beyond the school years.

"Bradon Forest have been lucky enough to have Rhys from Royal Wootton Bassett Rugby Club taking their PE lessons every Tuesday and delivering some fantastic rugby sessions!

The girls from both key stages have been working on their ball handling skills, spatial awareness and game play and have all developed their rugby knowledge and ability a great deal!  Many thanks for giving Bradon the opportunity."
