We’re getting nearer to Christmas, but our youth teams aren’t slowing down for mince pies just yet!

They were out in force again this weekend, wrapped up, raring to go, and serving up plenty of action on the pitch before the festive break arrives.

Under 7s | Eric

This week’s trip to Chippenham was a treat. After a quick warm-up, we split into teams and played a series of matches. The sun was out, hats and gloves came off, and the conditions encouraged fast, flowing rugby. There were some outstanding tries, with plenty of passing to keep the ball moving—even as the trademark solo runs tried to steal the show.

The coaches’ Player of the Week was Eric, recognised for his commitment and impact across the matches. His energy and determination set the tone, making him a standout in a day full of strong performances.

Under 8s | Adam & George

There was plenty of excellent rugby on show as we travelled to Chippenham on a clear and crisp morning.

With the players divided across two teams we had two players of the week. Adam tried hard the whole session and ran great support lines in attack. George was terrific in defence, getting lots of tags and scored numerous tries.

Under 9s | Hunter & Isaac

Congratulations to Hunter Mason-House, who put in an outstanding all-round performance this week! Hunter was exceptional in both attack and defence, scoring three brilliant tries and making numerous determined tackles. A fantastic effort—well done, Hunter!

A huge well done to Isaac, whose excellent defensive work earned him Tackler of the Week. He produced several crucial, last-ditch tackles that stopped certain tries and showed tremendous commitment throughout.

Great work, Isaac!

Under 11s | Harry & Olly

Player of the week was Harry for his tireless effort around the paddock and keeping the ball moving from the breakdown.

Big performance from Olly who carried hard and was ever present at the breakdown. He was our Rucker of the week! Overall another terrific effort from the whole squad.

Under 10s | Oscar & Kimani

We had two players of the week this week as we had two different matches, Oscar despite only playing just a couple of games since joining showed great determination making some great tackles and supporting play. His hard work paying off with scoring his first ever try, congratulations Oscar I’m sure many more tries to come!

This week’s Player of the Week goes to Kimani, who put in an absolutely outstanding performance. Kimani is such a powerful, dynamic runner, and he proved it once again by scoring some incredible tries. Every time he had the ball in hand, he threatened the opposition and created real momentum for the team.

His tackling has come on unbelievably well too — strong, low, and textbook perfect. In defence, he’s become a real force, shutting down attacks with confidence and commitment.

Kimani is a genuine powerhouse on both sides of the ball, causing constant problems for the opposition whether he’s charging forward or locking things down at the back. A brilliant all-round display and thoroughly deserving of Player of the Week.

Under 12s | Rory & Fintan

Two players who really stood out today and led by example were Rory and Fintan, who were unanimously chosen as players of the week by the coaches.

Both players were excellent today, maintaining their energy and focus throughout the whole game, with multiple tackles, great work at the breakdown and aggressive running - really impressive play from both of you, well done!

Under 13s | Charlie

This week’s Under-13s Player of the Week goes to Charlie M, who delivered an outstanding second-half performance in a very tough game.

Charlie covered multiple positions throughout the match, but it was out on the wing where he truly excelled. His direct running and ability to get around the back of the defense was crucial.

He capped off his display with his first try for Bassett—showing great pace to round his opposite winger and diving into the corner to finish off a well-worked team move.

Well done, Charlie!

Ravens Under 12s | Niamh

Our U12 Raven of the week was Niamh. This one was hard as ever, but today Niamh stood out — full of confidence going forward, brave in contact, and getting stuck into plenty of tackles. A brilliant performance.

Under 14s | Tobias

U14s Player of the Match against Thatcham was Tobias.

Playing on the wing, Tobias scored the opening try with a run from inside the Bassett half and set the tone for the game. He also had a strong game in defense and also moved to cover full back for the last part of the game.

Under 15s | Abel

Tough day at the office for the team who played at Marlow. They came up against a well structured attacking team. All the boys should be proud of their performance today and they never once let their heads drop. It goes to show how far they have developed as a team. They certainly represented our club to a very high standard and showed great aggression and energy in defense.

Marlow congratulated our team and said how respectful the lads were, and the referee came up at the end to say what a pleasure it was to ref a great bunch of lads. Well done all.

Player of the match went to our captain today Abel. He showed great leadership from the first whistle, communicated well with the team but also the referee. He hit many dominant tackles and led the defense. Well done Abel.

Under 15s | Jake

Today’s Man of the match went to Jake! He was an absolute work horse alongside fellow 2nd row Seb in the engine room. Consistently making himself available for carries and dominant in his defence.

Also well done to George who was awarded Wimborne’s MoTM.

Ravens Under 16s | Erin & Bella

The U16 Ravens continued their recent form with strong running and excellent offloading in the tackle, earning a convincing win against a spirited Cotswold Lionesses side.

Erin was awarded Players’ Player for her tenacious tackling, while Bella received Opposition Player of the Match for her sharp sniping and all-round game.

Under 16s | Ben

U16's traveled to Frome on Sunday for a very tough encounter against a very good side. A fantastic game was played out in a great spirit by both teams.

Player of the Week was Ben, who was a constant threat at the breakdown and made some crucial tackles at key times.

Colts | Chris

Today we travelled to a strong Thornbury that are sat top of their league, it was a very physical game from the start. Our MOTM stepped up and as you can see from the picture he came away with some war wounds. Well done Chris.
