A bit of sunshine at last!

With a few age groups taking a break, things were a little quieter than usual - but the teams who did play made the most of a rare spell of good weather, proving you don’t need a full fixture list to have a bright weekend of rugby.

Under 9s |

Congratulations to this week's Player of the Week. He was everywhere today. If he wasn't scoring tries himself, he was organising his teammates in defence, and providing support when they were carrying the ball into contact. Well done, great effort!

This week's Tackler of the Week was Owen. Owen's technique is fantastic, and he demonstrated this today with several excellent examples, including a brilliant chop tackle near the line that prevented a try.

Under 6s | Henry

Player of the week was Henry. He showed great ball skills in the obstacle course and finished off his run with some nice passes.

Henry did well on the 1v1’s and 2v2’s. He’s very committed to training and listens well. Well done Henry.

Under 11s | Laeton & Dylan

Following a great squad effort, our Player of the week was Laeton. He made a number of surging direct runs against a strong opposition. In the face of adversity, he showed great resilience and attitude to drive his team forward.

Dylan was the Rucker of the week, demonstrating great technique and body position in the breakdown, driving through the Cricklade players.

Under 12s | Sam

Sam was awesome today, not just for his trademark runs and tries, but also for his determination in tackling, especially the last-ditch tackle to save a certain try right in the corner. Well done Sam!

Under 13s | Micah

This weeks player of the week was Micah, who put in an outstanding performance this week, showcasing impressive ball-carrying skills, speed, and determination. He consistently broke tackles and found gaps in the opposition’s defence, creating key opportunities for the team.

As the game went on, his work at the breakdown also stood out — his counter-rucking improved with every phase, helping us regain crucial possession and maintain momentum.
Well done, Micah.

Under 14s | Petar

Player of the match in a close game against ACA Barbarians was Petar. A great game at tight-head prop - scrummaging well, involved at the ruck and making good runs in open play.

Under 15s | Jake

Well done to all the U15s players today!

Brockworth was a challenging team to come up against, but the players stepped up and battled it out for most of the game in the middle of the pitch. Unfortunately, coming away with a 33-21 loss.

This week’s player of the match goes to Jake! He demonstrated great work rate around the pitch and strong carries through contact, putting the team on the front foot!

Under 16s | Jake

Our U16s travelled to Stow this week for a competitive game played in a true rugby spirit. The lads worked on their phase play and patterns very well. Player of the week is Jake who carried true and hard.

Ravens Under 16s | Kesa & Daisy

Despite a few injuries and some players stepping into unfamiliar positions, the Bassett Ravens put in a dominant performance against Walcats this weekend. From the opening whistle, the Ravens showed intent — powerful running lines, quick reactions to turnover ball, and dominant scrummaging set the tone for the match.

An early try settled any nerves, and the team built momentum throughout the first half, crossing the line six times before the break, all successfully converted. The second half saw the Ravens continue to apply pressure.

Every player contributed to a strong team performance, demonstrating adaptability and teamwork.

🏅 Player’s Player of the Match: Kesa
🏅 Opposition’s Choice: Daisy

A fantastic effort all round — well done, Ravens!
