A sunny day out on the rugby field is something we've all been looking forward to. And our youth teams were out in force - let's catch up with how they got on...

Under 7s | Joseph

It was gloriously sunny and we got to play on Chippenham’s artificial pitch.
There was lots of great play from both sides, in defence and attack. It was hard to pick our star of the week with so many children doing so well, but in the end our player of the week was Joseph who tried hard the whole session and was joint winner of fish and sharks at the end.

Under 8s | Owen

U8 player of the week is Owen. Last weeks session was about running forward into a space and Owen put everything he had learnt into practice today! He got on side and was a great team player!

Under 9s | William

William showed great determination in all three of his games, with some fantastic tackling Support play and tries scored, within a great team performance.

Under 10s | Joe & Oliver

Joe was our player of the week as he made numerous tackles and surging runs today at Chippenham. At one point he drove two players off the ball recovered it and ran in a try from half way.

Oliver demonstrated great tackle technique with a number of dominant tackles during the matches and was therefore our tackler of the week.

Great effort from the whole squad today, Well done under 10’s.

Under 11s | Theo & Sam

Player of the week today was Theo, who led from the front with some excellent runs, strong tackling and good decision making with offloads to keep the ball alive.

Tackle of the week went to Sam for a number of excellent tackles, showing no fear and really good technique against some larger players.

Let’s keep up this momentum and go into next week’s game with even more confidence!

Under 12s | Mikey

This weeks player of the week for the under 12's went to Mikey who carried the ball with intent every time he had the ball in hand.. breaking the gain line on multiple occasions and picking up to great try’s. Well done Mikey

Ravens Under 12s | Daisy

Our friends at Hungerford, joined us today to play four quarters of rugby in the sun. Every game between us has been full of competition all season and today was much of the same. Strong performances from Emily in both teams colours, Eliza using her speed and dancing feet. But Daisy with her angry forceful running, and fearsome tackles made her Raven of the week today. At Friday’s training we will be working on tackling, kick off practice and we will be trying to get competitive. Well done all.

Under 13s | Avik

Today’s U13 Player of the Match was Avik. The visiting Hungerford players voted for Avik for his strong running and two well taken tries. A great game with Hungerford played in a great spirit and in perfect conditions.

Under 14s | Daniel

Player of the week goes to Daniel. He has shown consistency the past few weeks with strong performances and topped today off with plenty of strong runs and strong scrummaging.

Under 14s | Tom

Player of the Week goes to Tom, has been brilliant to see his confidence grow from strength to strength since joining us, absolute work horse all over the pitch!

Under 15s | Squad

U15's travelled to London Irish on Sunday. Despite being significantly physically smaller, the whole squad showed a level of commitment, heart and desire that was a real credit to the parents, coaching team and the club.

The player of the match was simply the entire squad of 21 who never threw in the towel and competed right up to the final whistle

Under 16s | Chris

A strong performance across the whole team against Lydney, where the team focussed on maintaining shape and putting key moves in to play. Man of the Match, Chris playing ‘open side’ ran all match long, putting in crucial tackles and made several strong penetrating runs.

A special mention goes to Zac on the occasion of his first match day try.

Under 16s | Isaiah

Today at Frome we went away with 15 players so all the players had to dig deep to get a result. Our MOTM was Isaiah who who we moved from wing to full back. He talked and controlled our back 3 incredibly well and on a very heavy pitch cleared up a number of kicks over the top. All the lads pit in an very good shift and did their part in a very good win.
