Whether they were defending home turf or hitting the road, our youth teams were right in the thick of it this weekend.

From early kick-offs to long away days, there was no shortage of effort, energy, and rugby spirit on display. Here are the highlights:

Under 6s | Joe

Cirencester welcomed us to a very muddy wet pitch. Which the players loved, as they could combine swimming and rugby. We joined in with the Under 7’s. After a quick warm-up we got straight into small sided games. We have not done many of these and the Under 6’s adapted really well.

Joe was this weeks player of the week. He was very brave throughout the session. Getting numerous tags and carrying well. Well done Joe.

Under 8s | Arlo

At a muddy Cirencester there was some brilliant rugby on display again. The defensive line was aggressive, the passing was crisp and tries were scored due to brilliant support lines.

The player of the week was Arlo. He was relentless in defence, passed superbly and scored numerous tries by running onto ball at extreme pace.

Under 10s | Henry & Remi

This week we had two teams in action against Cirencester, which meant we also had two very deserving Players of the Week.

Remy may be one of the smaller players on the pitch, but he truly has the heart of a lion. Lightning quick and always dangerous in attack, he caused constant problems for the opposition. What really stood out was his bravery and work rate. Remy never shies away from contact, making numerous try-saving tackles on the fringes using his speed and determination. He was heavily involved at the rucks, competing fiercely for the ball on defence and securing possession on attack, standing his ground against much larger players. A huge performance full of courage and commitment.

Henry once again showed why he is such a consistently outstanding performer. A natural runner with the ball, he scored some excellent tries and was a constant attacking threat. Defensively, he was outstanding — a fearsome tackler who made several dominant hits. Even when not the first defender, Henry was relentless, winning well over 10 turnovers and repeatedly turning possession back in our favour. An all-round performance of the highest quality.

We are extremely proud of both players — two brilliant performances that set the standard for effort, bravery, and teamwork. Well done, Remy and Henry!

Under 11s | Euan & Leo

Euan was the U11’s player of the week following an impressive display against a physical Cirencester side. Euan secured a number of restarts and carried the ball direct and hard throughout. He also showed off his defensive skills with some crucial tackles within the games.

Our Rucker of the week was Leo, who has only recently joined us. His positive attitude and physicality in the tackle and breakdown was once again very impressive, considering he has only played a handful of games.

Under 12s | Oli

An unsung hero of our team, doing the work people often overlook. Oli’s commitment in defence particularly at rucks made all the difference in a close game.

Under 13s | Mikey

This week’s Under-13s Player of the week is Mikey. Throughout a very tough physical game, he put in an outstanding shift, never stopped running from the first whistle to the last. He was everywhere—making big tackles, breaking the line, and constantly finding gaps in the opposition’s defensive line.

The highlight of the game came when Mikey finished off a great, flowing move through the back line, crossing in the corner. Well done Mikey!

Under 14s | Squad

The player of the match award was given this week to the whole U14s squad after an excellent result vs Trowbridge. Honourable mentions for their individual contributions go to Avik, Jack L and Zach H.

Ravens Under 12s | Mia & Isla

Both Mia & Isla ran the team tremendously well and caused Cheltenham all sorts of problems, keeping them under constant pressure and scaring the life out of them with their pace, control, and confidence. Outstanding performances from both.

Ravens Under 14s | Lexi

Our U14w Ravens were up against a tough side in North Dorset today however regardless of the final result I think we can all agree that our Ravens did themselves, us and the club proud.

At the start of the day and following on from last week, we asked two things of the girls: to support one another and give 100%! They succeeded on both accounts and this did not go unnoticed by both referee & Director of Rugby at the club who both commented on the positive turnaround.

Lexi was awarded Raven of the week. Lexi has embraced her role as Captain; organising the girls off the pitch whilst also being a positive leader and role model on the pitch. Well done Lexi - this was truly deserved.

Ravens U16s | Kennedy & Dotty

The Ravens U16 girls continued their strong run of results with another confident performance against Hungerford, playing plenty of running rugby with excellent support play throughout.

The Players’ Player award went to Kennedy, who showed great confidence and made several powerful runs. Dotty was chosen by Hungerford for her strong running and scoring a number of tries.

A great team effort from the Ravens — well done all.

Colts | Will

Will set the tempo brilliantly at scrum half, delivering fast, accurate service all day in difficult conditions.

Always looking dangerous in attack, he executed the game plan superbly and linked excellently with his fly-half to keep the team on the front foot throughout.
