We love catching up on how our younger players fared over the weekend — their smiles say it all! 😃

Check out the highlights from our Minis, Juniors, and Ravens...

Under 6s | Oscar

This week we welcomed Minety and Fairfield. The session featured Oscar as the coach's player, demonstrating his solid speed and skill on the field.

The group was split into Reception and Year 1 players. The Year 1s focused on skills and matchplay, to prepare for their advancement next year, while the Reception group worked on running and passing drills. It was rewarding to see both age groups develop their abilities. They improve every week.

At the end of the session, all players came back together for a game of dodgeball, which added a fun, muddy conclusion to our training.

Under 7s | Adam & George

There was once again lots of great skills on display as we welcomed Minety and Fairfield to Ballards Ash. The catching on the run was excellent and the defending was well coordinated.

There were so many great performances that there are two players of the week. Adam did really well in the matches especially in his support running and try scoring. George did great in bulldog, played for the opposition as they were short of numbers and scored great tries.

Under 8s | Reuben & James

Reuben did some amazing spins and even got praised for doing ‘tackle of the day’. He was very good at finding spaces.

James was fast on his feet and scored some great tries! He worked well with his team mates and gave the opposition a run for their money!

Under 9s | Arthur

Arthur was our player of the week, he has shown consistent improvement over the last couple of weeks.

This week he made some great tackles, was effective in support during open play, assisting in creating scoring opportunities and scored some tries himself.

Well done Arthur, keep it up.

Under 10s | Joe & Jack

Joe put on a powerhouse display today against Fairford making big gains every time he touched the ball. His contact skills and decision making continue to improve each week and that’s why he was our player of the week.
Jack known for his silky running skills displayed his hunger for the tackle throughout today. He chopped down players of all shapes and sizes and could have easily been mistaken for one of the Curry twins. Excellent effort players!

Ravens Under 12s | Lydia

Today’s game against the Warriors showed that our Ravens have some resilience to them, never once giving up. Largely the difference today was the Warriors ability to move the ball at pace, with a support runner hitting hard lines and scoring break away tries. The third and the fourth quarters did show signs of the girls making a fight back, and attempting to pull things closer. Although a tough day we did have many positives, we witnessed lots of strong running, and excellent communication. I could see confidence and smiles all round.

Lydia took home the Raven of the week, early on she made try saving tackles and this carried on all game. Proud of you all, see everyone at training on Friday. ⚫️⚪️🔴🐦‍⬛

Under 11s | Lincoln & Elliott

Player of the week today was Lincoln, who played some of the best rugby we’ve seen from him - very strong running, but also great awareness to make the killer pass when needed.

Tackler of the week was Elliott, who was on fire today and made a fantastic try-saving tackle right on the line.

Under 13s | Daniel, Finnley & Shazil

A fun morning at Cirencester for the U13s. A round robin tournament against Cirencester, Witney and touring team Vipers. U13s won all three games and our Players of the Matches were Daniel, Finnley and Shazil.

Under 16s | Max

Today we came up against a MC Quins. They are a physical well structured team but with leadership and organisation from our MOTM Max we over came them and came out victorious.

Max has really progressed and matured over the last few month and bossed his forwards all over the pitch. Well done Max 👏 ⚫⚪

Under 16s | Will

After a patchy start where the team struggled to turn tactical dominance in to points, the lads went back to basics. Having reestablished the momentum, especially in the second half, the player who stood out in terms of all round play was Will.

Will not only played the ball into space, tackled tenaciously, and scored a try he also put in the best jackal of the day.
