We always look forward to finding out how our younger players get on at the weekend. They always look so 😃 happy!

Here are the highlights from our Minis, Juniors and Ravens...

Under 6s | Joseph

Windy conditions and muddy pitches in Bassett and this week. Joseph was named Coach's Player of the Week. He showcased impressive mobility and ball handling, inspiring his teammates with his enthusiasm.

The focus of the training was varied, with drills on passing and tagging, with an exciting game in between. As the session wrapped up, muddy knees evidenced the fun we had.

Under 7s | Coby

On a chilly and windy day, there were lots of skills on display. They really enjoyed the obstacle course and learnt switch passes.

The player of the week was Coby. He was extremely evasive in attack, keen to get tags in defence, passed well and scored lots of tries.

Under 8s | Eric

Player of the week for U8s was Eric. His communication skills were brilliant and he talked to the person on his left and right. He was also good in defence. He took lots of tags and remembered to take his place in the defensive line. Keep up the good work Eric!

Under 9s | Millie

Millie was awarded player of the week this week for really embracing the challenge of playing the under 10s. She carried the ball with determination and if she wasnt scoring tries she was was enaging players to create gaps for her teammates.

Under 10s | Rupert & Laeton

Rupert was our player of the week displaying some strong dynamic ball carrying in our inter club matches today.

Laeton was our tackler of the week putting in some great tackles throughout the session.

Ravens Under 12s | Isla

Thanks today to Hungerford for hosting our combined training session. The girls worked on line speed, ran the gauntlet, worked on tackling and finished with a mixed team game.

Well done to Isla our Raven of the week. Great work rate during the game, some impressive runs with powerful hand offs.

Well done to all the girls for taking part today, good effort from all. See everyone at training on Friday!

Under 11s | Billy & Fintan

Player of the week goes to Billy who had an alround great game, finished with a barnstorming run and try.

Tackler of the week goes to Fintan, who’s been working really hard on his technique and confidence with tackling and we saw that really pay off today with some fantastic chop tackles.

Under 12s | Joshua

This weeks Player of the Week for the Under 12's went to Joshua who had a great training session on Wednesday evening and then backed it up with a good session today.. taking what he learnt in the session into the short game at the end training session. Well done Joshua.

Under 13s | Sean

Player of the match for the U13s vs Bradford on Avon was Sean. Sean made a defensive impact by making a number of strong tackles to close down opposition attacks. He also carried the ball strongly making significant line breaks and a well taken try.

Under 14s | Oscar

In a tight contest Oscar came up with a couple of turnovers at vital moments and was an excellent link between the forwards and backs.

Ravens Under 14s | Kat

The Ravens U14s hit the road to take on their friends at North Dorset Ravens. In a fiercly contested match, played in wet and extremely windy conditions. Bassett started well and scored an early try, but ND hit back soon after with a try of their own. The two teams were very evenly matched, with the contrast of styles on show. ND dominated the early rucks as Bassett body heights were too high, but we were able to counter with good dominant tackles and jackling the tackled players.

As the game progressed, Bassett got better at competing at the breakdown, and were able to give the backs some quality ball. We began to use quick hands to move the ball wide, and also started to utilise the driving mall as a weapon to good success. In the end, Bassett ran away with the victory, but reinforced our friendship with a great team at ND.

Our player of the day was Kat, for her tremendous work in both the front row, and in the centre, her ferocious tackles and great team spirit, she was awarded a signed match ball

Under 15s | Ben

Our U15's travelled to Bradford on Avon for a wet and windy contest played in a great spirit with true rugby values. Player of the week was Ben. He worked tirelessly in defence and produced a couple of turnovers.

Under 16s | Toby

What a game today Bassett, a sustained high level of pressure on the opposition meant they never had a chance to settle. It was really hard to select a man of the match as there were a range of contenders. We did choose eventually as this player was playing in a new position and brought pace, strong defence and his passing was good. Well done Toby.

Under 16s | Max

A massive shoutout to Max for a standout performance today in tough conditions!

Stepping up to play in the U16s, he put in a huge shift and capped it off with a hat-trick of tries. A brilliant all-round display – well deserved MOTM!

Ravens Under 18s | Francis

In a fiercely contested away fixture, the Royal Hurricanes U18s faced the Cotswold Lionesses U18s in truly abysmal conditions, a factor that ultimately played a significant role in the outcome.
Our Player of the Match was Francis. Her powerful performance, particularly in the forwards, was a highlight of the game. Francis showed great physicality and determination, and maybe found a new calling in the forwards!
