We're back! After a longer than expected break due to Christmas, bad weather and frozen pitches, our youth teams were finally able to get back out on the field. Here's how they got on during the weekend...

Under 6s | Gethin

This week’s training was a chilly affair, with muddy conditions adding to the excitement. We focused on plenty of running and played engaging passing games to develop our skills.
One player stood out for their excellent concentration and determination in the cold—congratulations to Gethin for being named Player of the Week!
After a fun and energetic session, we all enjoyed some delicious hotdogs to warm up. See you all next week!

Under 7s | Adrian

Lots of great effort on show at Marlborough in surprisingly chilly conditions. There was good work in the passing drills that paid off in the games. The player of the week was Adrian who is new to rugby this year but is always wholeheartedly involved. He did well in defence today and also scoring some great tries.

Under 8s | Rory

Rory was player of the week for U8s. Great tackling and great running back in defence.

Under 9s | Willem

Willem was back with a bang after the Christmas break. Unaffected by the cold, he got stuck in defensively with some strong tackles and organising his line. He made some fantastic runs in attack and linked up well with his team mates, staying in support of the other attacking players.

Under 11s | Daniel

Our standout player this week was Daniel, who was a tower of strength from the first minute to the last, making some excellent runs, but also creating great opportunities and making good choices for others to score, well done Daniel, keep it up!

Ravens Under 12s | Arabella

Arabella was Raven of the week, working to get stuck in all over the pitch, making tackles and helping to move the team forward. 🐦‍⬛

Under 12s | Donald

Player of the game for the under 12's goes to Donald, and big shout out to him.. it’s great to have you back and wearing the Bassett shirt.. but most of all it was the ball carries up the pitch along with some great line breaks and some good tackles.. and topping it off with a couple of trys.

Under 13s | Avik

Player of the match today for U13s was Avik in a close game against Devizes. Avik was chosen by the opposition players for strong running and scoring an excellent try.

Under 14s | Tevita

The boys had an outstanding first half at Oxford Quins, dominating the set piece and played some outstanding running rugby, great support play which resulted in 2 great tries. The defence at times was brilliant and resulted in many turnovers. The team battled hard and kept their heads held high throughout the game which shows testament to their characters.

There could have easily been numerous players of the match. However Tevita with some huge carries, big hits in defence and great try was awarded player of the match.

A special thank you goes out to Finn Low and Jack Leighfield from the under 13's who both had outstanding games and do not look out of place in the U14s.

Under 14s | Charlie

Player of the week as always was a tough choice and this week it goes to Charlie, who showed great leadership in organising the forwards around the pitch, and as well as some good carrys that put us on the front foot also had one of his best games defensively with some great tackles. Including when Cirencester were only around 5 meters out putting in 3 successive huge double tackles alongside GBH that resulted in turnover ball and allowed us to clear our lines.

Well done all, and proud of every U14 that pulled on the Bassett shirt today.

Under 16s | Guy

Today the U16s travelled to Old Cryptians who are a well organised and physical team. Our MOTM Guy out scrummaged and dominated his opposite prop. His quick thinking and rugby brain got us on the front foot with a few quick tap penalties. The team did the club and themselves proud.
