With the sun shining and the season nearing its close, our youth teams made the most of another fantastic weekend of rugby.

From Minis through to the Ravens, there was plenty of energy and enjoyment on show as the campaign heads into its final stretch.

Under 7s | Nico

The Under‑7s travelled to Fairford and joined the Under‑8s for a lively mini‑tournament, with plenty of great rugby and teamwork on show. The players adapted brilliantly, showing strong running, tagging, and support play.

Coaches’ Player this week was Nico, rewarded for his sharp footwork and quick, darting runs that repeatedly broke through the defence. A brilliant effort from the whole squad.

Under 10s | Kimani & Oxley

This week, we had two teams in action against Fairford, and as a result, two standout players have been recognised.

Kimani is once again a strong contender for Player of the Week. A truly well-rounded player, he is incredibly difficult to stop with ball in hand, consistently solid in defence, and highly effective at the breakdown—regularly stripping possession from the opposition with ease. What really set him apart this week, however, was his exceptional work rate off the ball. On multiple occasions, Kimani tracked back the full length of the pitch to make crucial, try-saving tackles. A top-class performance.

Oxley earns his place this week following a long-awaited return to rugby. It was fantastic to see him back on the field, clearly enjoying the game again. He showed he hasn’t lost any of his pace or instinct, demonstrating a sharp eye for space and strong running ability. Solid in defence as well, Oxley reminded everyone just how valuable he is to the team. Welcome back—great to have you with us again.

Under 8s | Tommy

On a beautifully sunny morning, we had the pleasure of teaming up with the Under 7s to play with Fairfords Under 7s and 8s.

There was lots of great rugby from all teams and everyone had a wonderful time, making the most of the lovely weather.

The player of the week was Tommy. He was excellent in attack but really excelled in defence, especially when pushing up hard at each restart.

Under 11s | Joe & Laeton

Joe was our Rucker of the week, getting stuck into the physical side of things against a larger Matson team. He stood up to the physical challenge and showed real grit during the match.

Laeton led from the front throughout today’s difficult task away from home. He carried hard, put in some great shots and never gave up. A standout performance, and was our player of the week.

Under 13s | Marshall

Marshall hasn’t been playing rugby very long and this is his first season playing for a club.

He scored his first try for Bassett on Sunday where he showed great support play on the wing. He finished off a great flowing team try from one side of the pitch to the other and scoring in the corner. Well done Marshall.

Ravens Under 12s | Latisha

U12’s Raven of the week is Latisha, a fantastic performance - electric pace down the wing, strong running, and some excellent tackling to match. A well-deserved award, especially after such a great start to her rugby journey.

Under 14s | Callum

Player of the match for the Under 14s Boys against Frome was Callum. It was a good contest with Frome and Bassett scored a number of excellent tries when moving the ball through hands to players on the outside.

Callum played well - out of position at scrum half in the first half and in his more usual position at fly-half on the second. He scored a great try after seeing space in the stretched defence and backing himself to make the line.

Ravens Under 14s | Daisy

Our player of the week, who demonstrated all of our good qualities today, was Daisy, who wins U14 Raven of the week by showing aggression and intensity from start to finish, making strong tackles, running attacking lines and scoring an excellent try following a well-worked team move.
