It was so foggy this weekend we could barely see the far touchline, but our youth teams still knew exactly where they were going!

Braving the mist and the cold, our younger age groups got stuck in and made sure the rugby action cut through the fog.  Here are their highlights...

Under 7s | Spencer

Our Under‑7s made the foggy trip to Trowbridge this weekend — big thanks to the parents who tackled the long drive. After a lively warm‑up with skill games, the players threw themselves into some tough matches and showed real quality throughout.

Spencer earned Coaches Player for his lightning speed and excellent teamwork, though the standard was so high that many could have taken the award. A brilliant effort from the whole squad.

Under 8s | Tommy & Noah

Emerging from the mists that blanketed Trowbridge was the best rugby this set of Under 8s has ever produced. There were length of the field tries, last-ditch defending, wonderful passing, great communication, support running par excellence, and brilliant team tries.

It made it very hard to choose a player of the week this week; we could have given it to all those who played, but we actually have two players of the week in the end. Tommy showed brilliant teamwork, great running in attack and organising the defence line when Trowbridge had the ball. Noah ran hard in attack and got two try-saving tags in succession in defence.

Under 9s | Jake & Charlie

This week's Player of the Week was Jake. Jake showed great leadership today; organising his team's defence, leading by example, and tackling every opposition player that came his way.
This week's Tackler of the Week was Charlie. Charlie worked tirelessly in defence against big opposition players. Undaunted, it was his defence around the breakdown and good use of the touchline that helped give his team the win.
Great effort guys.

Under 10s | Atti & Tobias

This week, we had two teams, and two outstanding performances from our age group.

Atti played some of the best rugby we’ve ever seen from him. He stepped up in defence, earning cheers from the team and supporters alike, and then set himself an ambitious challenge of making 20 tackles – a target he threw himself into with full determination. His focus, commitment, and willingness to get stuck in were truly impressive. We’d love to see more of this level of focus and determination in future games. Well done, Atti!

Tobias had a fantastic performance against a formidable team this week. He threw himself into countless battles on the field and came out on top in the majority of them. Always willing to get stuck in, he’s a real threat with the ball in hand and consistently shows what it means to be a team player. His work ethic and determination make him a standout on the pitch – well done, Tobias!

Both players exemplify the focus, determination, and team spirit that make our year group proud. Keep up the great work!

Under 11s | Rufus & Harry & Sid

U11’s Players of the Week were Rufus and Harry. Rufus showed off his physicality today on both sides of the ball, with direct hard carries and crunching tackles. Harry as always a classy operator getting the ball away at the breakdown, crisp handling and great footwork throughout.

Sid was the Rucker of the week, making big tackles driving players back then straight up on his feet driving through the ruck & winning multiple turnovers. Strong work players! 💪

Under 12s | Leo & Freddie

We were super impressed with Leo who was fantastic on the wing today, scoring a hat trick of tries but also putting in some really good tackles in defence.

We also have to mention Freddie, who performed his job at fly-half excellently today, calmly controlling the game and distributing the ball very well to draw our players in and create opportunities to score.

Ravens Under 12s | Squad

A huge well done as well for the way the girls welcomed the five North Dorset players into the mix, showing them first-hand what being a Raven is all about — intensity, respect, and playing the game the right way. We asked for competition today — and we got it. I was impressed with every single one of them.
See everyone back at training on Friday, ready to build again.

Ravens Under 14s | Imogen

It was a tough day at the office for our Ravens today against a very strong Winscombe side, but I was extremely proud of the effort that every single player put in today, and for large parts of the game we were very competitive.

We were very strong in the scrum, our rucking was aggressive, and we spent lots of the game with good possession and territory - we just didn’t get the breaks to get the ball out wide and find the space to score. With a lack of numbers and a lot of injuries during the game, it was inevitable that we tired as the game went on, but everyone worked hard right up to the final whistle.

There were lots of good performances today, but player of the week goes to Imogen for a fantastic first game for the Ravens - she was excellent at full back, showing good composure, great speed and some excellent tackling. Well done Imogen, here’s to many more wxcwllent performances!

There’s plenty more to work on in training this week, so looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday.

Under 13s | Marvy

This weeks Under 13's player of the week went to Marvy, who delivered an outstanding offensive performance against a very physical opposing team.

Marvy' s direct running and pace created multiple line breaks, making ground on the opposition throughout the whole match. With the great support of the team, he capped off a fine performance by running in 6 tries.  Well done Marvy.

Under 14s | Shazil

Player of the match for the Under 14s in a very even game against Old Centralians was Shazil. Shaz carried the ball hard, often breaking the gain line and putting us on the front foot.

Under 15s | Riley

With so many standout performances, the coaches found it impossible to pick just one player. Therefore, we went with Melksham's choice, which went to Riley. He was dominant in his carries all gam,e scoring our first try with a lovely pick and go and showed great work rate around the field.

Under 15s | Seb

For the lads who headed up to Stratford today, every single one of them should be proud of themselves. The boys' work-rate and commitment to one another shone through, with some great defense, amazing attacking plays and a couple of tries worked straight from the training ground.

Tough MOTM choice today, but it goes to Seb for his work rate and a couple of well-scored tries.

Ravens Under 18s | Izzy, Lucie, Kacey & Eva

Congratulations to some of our U18 Ravens players who were selected to represent Dorset & Wilts U18 in their county match against Berkshire U18s on Sunday.
