Our youth teams were out in force at the weekend... let's catch up with how they got on...

Under 6s | Jack

Trowbridge gave us near on perfect playing conditions this morning. We had a good warm up and then done a rugby obstacle course drill. We followed this with a passing drill and a final game of sharks vs fish’s. Jack was coaches player of the week being one of the final fish’s left. Showing great running and dodging skills. Well done all.

Under 7s | Tommy

On another bright but chilly day we had a fantastic session at Trowbridge. The progress the whole group have made this season is staggering. The support play is excellent, the passing is crisp, the defense is well organised and the running is elusive.
Lots of kids could have been player of the week, with lots of great tries scored and tenacious tagging in defence. The player of the week is Tommy who organised his defensive line brilliantly and was always in support when we attacked.

Under 8s | Owen

Owen was player of the week for being incredibly speedy on his feet and scoring some great tries!  He was a great team player and supported his team mates during the game. It was great to see him encourage other players, keep up the good work Owen!

Under 9s | Richard

Richard had an amazing week this week, Trowbridge was a really tough team to go against and Richard showed real perseverance and team spirit, which drove him on to score a try! Well done Richard !

Under 10s | Harry & Euan

Great performance across the board from the under 10’s but it was epitomised by the work rate and effort displayed by Euan. His tenacious tackling and weaving runs were of the highest order today. Keeping the width in attack and servicing breakdowns throughout.

Harry gave 110% effort today throughout. His tackling was instrumental at times even chasing back the full length of the pitch to stop a certain try. Helping others with double up tackling and using his speed to create gaps for other team members really made the difference in the game environment. Harry showed the key attributes of a team player and shows he is developing personal technique in the contact areas.

Ravens Under 12s | Annalise

Today’s game against Melksham, was a step up physically from last week. Our girls, have really managed to put pressure on teams, defending in their faces and giving teams no time to play, and this has led to us frustrating opponents, causing our opposition to play in a way that they are not comfortable with.

Confidence is growing with every game from our Ravens. The lessons learnt will not only make them better players, but will also help bring them closer as a team. I would describe today as a battling forwards performance, Annalise with tremendous effort in making the hard yards took home the Raven this week.

Each week I’m very proud of this group of girls, they just get better. Well done all, will see everyone at training on Friday to prepare for our home game next Sunday ⚫️⚪️🔴🐦‍⬛

Under 11s | Rory

Special mention has to go to Rory who went the extra mile today, doing all the tough jobs and winning the ball at every opportunity, as well as his trademark runs - an absolute shoe-in for player of the week today!

Under 12s | Corey

This weeks player of the week for the under 12's went to Corey! Who only started playing rugby this season but hasn’t missed a session since joining.. today he played nearly a full match and got stuck in and helped the team to an impressive win, along with the support of his teammates nearly got his first try in the process.. well done Corey!

Under 13s | Oliver

Today’s U13 player of the match was Oliver who made a great impact when he came on in both defence and attack. Honourable mentions for other great performances in what was a closely fought contest against Trowbridge go to Shazil and Joshua.

Ravens Under 14s | Dotty

Raven U14s took to the pitch for their 1st taste of Friday night lights. Our opposition were our friends from Kingswood Athenas RFC.
With the patio packed with supporters, the girls braved the chilly conditions and got stuck in. Throughout the game against bigger opposition, they played for each other, and played their best game of the season, narrowly losing 33-43. Our player of the night was Dotty for her fabulous kicking, impressive sidestepping and wonderful team spirit.

Under 14s | Squad

Player of the week went to the whole squad this week. A very good physical game of rugby to watch. Well done to them all 🖤🤍🖤🤍

Under 16s | Owen

In a game that saw two well matched teams struggle for dominance, a couple of players in particular stood out. Owen gave an outstanding tackling performance which kept the opposition on the back foot.

Under 16s | Jack

Equally in attack, the ability to offer the team much needed ‘go forward’ by constantly breaking the gain line, Jack was outstanding. The two performances were impossible for the coaches to separate so both receive a well deserved the Man of the Match award.

Ravens Under 16s | Kesa, Lei, Izzy & Georgie

The Ravens travelled away to Gloucester Hurricanes on Sunday. They were caught off guard in the opening moments and let in a quick try. However, they soon rallied back. The forwards put into practice some great offloading in the tackle which gave the backs space which they used to play some lovely fast expansive rugby. All in all, it was great to see all the hard work and effort from training transfer onto the pitch and into tries and points on the score board.

The opposition chose Kesa and Lei as Forwards of the Match and Izzy as Back of the Match. The Ravens gave Georgie Player of the Match for her 3 tries and conversions.
