🤶🏻 It was the final rugby training of the year for the RWB Minis on Sunday. Thank you to everyone for a great half-season. Let's catch up on how our youth players got on...

Under 6s | Rory & Joseph

This week, we’re excited to shine a spotlight on two outstanding players from our Under 6 team, Rory and Joseph, who have been named Coaches' Players of the Week!

They showed enthusiasm and sportsmanship during our Christmas-themed training sessions. Both consistently demonstrate teamwork, resilience, and a positive attitude, making them standouts in our squad.

Today’s training was especially festive as we incorporated some themed games, including the fan-favorite "What’s the Time, Santa?" The kids were full of festive cheer, displaying their agility and quick thinking while navigating the challenges. To top off the fun, we invited all the parents to join us, at the end, for a game of dodgeball, I could tell they were delighted to bring the spirit of the Christmas season to life!

A huge shoutout to Rory and Joseph for their hard work today. Happy Christmas to all our players and their families!

Under 7s | Zayn

There was lots of festive cheer among the under 7s at mini rugby. There was fun, respect and skill on display. Plus there was even the bonus of a drive past by Santa himself!! Player of the week was Zayn. He listened really well, got lots of tags and scored a fabulous try too.

Under 8s | Oliver

Ollie concentrated hard throughout the session and did some great passes. He works well as a team and always encourages his friends!

Under 9s | Agnes

Agnes was really focused this week, she really kept up with play and got really involved. Her confidence is coming on leaps and bounds! Amazing Agnes well done!

Under 10s | Squad

The U10’s Squad have made massive strides forward in 2024 embracing the new contact skills as a collective. Well done & we go again in the new year players!

Under 11s | Squad

U11’s had a great time at the Christmas training session! This week it was team of the week to round off a great half a season!

Under 12s | Squad

Player of the week for Under 12's goes to the whole team. We had a great session today with fun challenges and games. We've had a great half season and the whole team has shown great support to each other. We have had new players, injuries and some low times. Each and every one of the boys have been there for each other. Great team work!

Under 13s | Squad

A different week for the U13s - most of the group had a gym session with a heavy focus on tackle technique. Excellent effort and determination was shown. 7 of our players had the opportunity to support the U14s dual fixtures today and were a ‘credit to their age group’ according to the U14s coaches.

Under 14s | Jack

A tough day at the office over in Cheltenham. All the lads put a hell of a shift in today against a very strong opposition. For the first 20 minutes we held our own dominating in the scrum.

The defence game was strong and some huge tackles went in on their main ball carriers to keep them at bay throughout the game. The scoreline did not reflect how much heart the boys gave today and never once dropped their heads. They all played giving it a 100% until the final whistle and deserved to get some points on the board.

The boys have shown courage and commitment today and where we have come on as a team.

Our player of the match was Jack, who led from the front with huge carries up the centre of the pitch, and some massive tackles in defence keeping the opposition out. Well done Jack.

Huge thanks also goes out to the U13s who put the shirt on today and gave a great game.

Under 14s | Jake

Witney Game - win! We challenged the boys before the game to try and play the structures we’ve been working on in training and first half it looked phenomenal, two pods of forwards communicating well and breaking lines to then allow the backs to play the ball through the hands which they executed very well. Most impressive was the line speed today cutting down any space Witney had and simply not allowing them to play. Really well played from everyone.

Player of the week went to second row Jake, his carries got us on the front foot consistently. Lost count on how many tackles he made and was a constant nuisance at the breakdown.

Well done to Jayden also who was awarded man of the match by Witney. Also special thanks to the u13s who stepped up to play today.

Ravens Under 12s | Isla

Our games against Bristol Pumas started with a rocky first quarter, but the next quarters were a different story. The girls played fantastic rugby, demonstrating impressive passing skills and executing remarkable rugby. I was proud of their determination and fight, which put them in contention to win the game. Each girl truly stepped up today and embodied the spirit of being a Raven. Despite trailing by one try in the final quarter, we quickly leveled the score.

The final minutes were filled with excitement, but unfortunately, our valiant Ravens fell short, losing by just one try. Isla was our Raven of the day, showcasing ferocity in the rucks and making tackles all over the field.

Under 15s | Oliver

U15's travels to Cheltenham to play Old Pats this Sunday. A very competitive game played in a good spirit. Trainer of the week is Oliver on Friday night bossed the forwards around the pitch with excellent communication skills from the scrum half position.

Ravens Under 14s | Lexi

Ravens U14 player of the day is Lexi. She ran hard, tackled harder, and adapted to playing multiple positions without argument.

Ravens Under 14s | Lucie

The U16 girls faced off against Worcester in a challenging match. Despite the final score not reflecting their efforts, the girls demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination throughout. They dominated possession and made strong forward progress, consistently breaking through the defense, though they were repeatedly thwarted just short of the try line.… player of the match was Lucie (voted for by the opposition)

Under 16s | Guy

On Sunday we played against Supermarine a team we have struggled to beat in the past. The team came out and played incredibly and ended up winning. Guy was our MOTM he had a stormer. Stealing balls, hitting tackles and scoring. It's a great end of 2024 for these incredible lads.

Under 16s | Lewis

Lewis has really developed in confidence and today was a result of his hard work. His speed made the difference in at least two of the tries and his hands were like glue. His defence has always been strong and one of his biggest strengths is to listen. Really becoming an effective centre. Well done Lewis.

Ravens Under 18s | Rosie

Royal Hurricanes U18s vs. Bristol Pumas U18s. The Player of the Match was Rosie, the Royal Hurricanes' scrum-half, was awarded by the opposition for her outstanding performance.
The Royal Hurricanes displayed a dominant performance, showcasing skill and sportsmanship throughout the match.
