Sunshine and rugby: a winning combination! ☀️

Our youth teams made the most of the bright conditions this weekend, bringing plenty of energy and smiles to the pitch and proving everything feels a bit easier when the sun’s out.

Under 7s | Squad

There was plenty of great rugby on display by the Under-7s at Avonvale today. The defense was immense, with last-ditch tags and a really well organised defensive line. In attack there were brilliant tries, created by slick passing and scorching runs.

Instead of one player of the week, the whole squad of Rex, Spencer, Eric, Tommy, Nico and Beau got a combined player of the week award as they all did so well.

Under 9s | Jack & Elliot

This week's Player of the Week was Jack. This week we asked Jack to play the whole game at scrum half. Jack loved getting his hands on the ball, followed the play well and didn't miss a breakdown. Great effort Jack!

Tackler of the Week this week was Elliot. Not the biggest player on the pitch, but it didn't matter this week. Elliot made a couple of excellent tackle attempts, and demonstrated good discipline in the defensive line. We are all very proud of him!

Under 8s | Rupert & Jackson

On the sloping pitch at Avonvale, the Under-8s excelled again this week. With loads of brilliant performances.

The two players of the week were Rupert and Jackson. Rupert displayed strong and direct running, great passing and superb game awareness. Jackson hasn’t been around much recently, but slotted straight back in. He scored scintillating tries and worked extremely hard in defence.

Under 10s | Barney

Barney was this week's player of the match. He was agressive in both defence and attack, managing to cover a large amount of ground with the effort he put in. He also had by far the muddiest knees of all the U10s!

Under 11s | George & Hunter

Player of the week was George. This was George’s first ever session but he showed natural sporting ability in the carry and got stuck into the contact. An exciting prospect.

Hunter was the Rucker of the week, getting stuck into the breakdown and also showing tenacity in the tackle. Great effort, lads!

Under 12s | Rex

Our player of the week is going to Rex, who worked hard all game, showed good strength and power whilst ball carrying and made some excellent tackles - well done Rex, keep up the good work!

Ravens Under 14s | Darcey

Our U14 Ravens served up a Mother’s Day treat this afternoon, with a very entertaining and highly competitive match away at Tewkesbury.

Whilst the scoreboard didn’t quite go our way, we were super proud of the way our girls applied themselves and really showed how they can work for each other as a strong team unit.

Special mentions go to Rosie, who made some fantastic line breaks and showed just how strong she can be, Ryleigh for completely bossing the scrum and leading the forward line, and Daisy for her excellent kicking and successful conversions.

However, player of the week goes to Darcey today, who was making a welcome return after several weeks out with a concussion. Darcey controlled the game and led the back line perfectly at 10, with consistent distribution and some fantastically strong and incisive running.

Under 14s | Squad

RWB U14 Boys travelled to Clifton for a double-header against Clifton and Bristol Saracens.

Two tough games that provided a stern physical challenge. There were a number of great individual performances across the park but the coaching team felt that all who played deserved recognition for the way they dealt with the demands of both games. So rather than Player of the week, this is a Team of the Week award.

The whole squad’s best wishes go to Tobias for a swift recovery from his wrist injury.

Under 15s | Tim

Player of the week went to Tim for his darting strong runs down his wing, resulting in his first try for us.

Ravens Under 16s |

U16s Girls representing D & W.

Under 16s Squad

The U16 Boys played on Friday night under the floodlights in a fantastic game against Oldfield Old Boys. This was an amazing advert for the club and the game of rugby, played in a hard-fought, competitive spirit. The players of the week are all the 45 boys who took part, making it such a great occasion
