Christmas excitement is building around the club, and our Minis and Juniors got into the festive spirit this week with a special visit from Santa during training.

With smiles all round and plenty of rugby still being played, it was another joyful weekend across our youth section. Here are the highlights:

Under 6s | Jayden

This week's player of the week was Jayden. On a fine December morning Santa's little helper Jayden, showed good ball skills and teamwork in stuck in the mud. He done well in the races and communicated well with teammates.

Under 7s | Jasper

Coach Leo brought some Christmas spirit to U7 training today dressed as Father Christmas, with festive jumpers adding cheer all round. Training focused on matchplay, passing backwards and staying onside — before Father Christmas handed out some tasty treats. Parents then joined in for a lively game of muddy bulldog, rounding off the session.

Special mention goes to Jasper, who was awarded Coach’s Player of the Week for showing great courage and teamwork.

Happy Christmas from all at U7s!

Under 9s | Sebastian

To celebrate the festive period there was plenty of jollity on display including Christmas jumpers, Santa hats and even some beard baubles!!

The rugby was fun too despite the biting wind, with superb evasion during bulldogs and aspiring Jonny Wilkinsons during a kicking competition.

Lots of great performances this week but the player of the week was Sebastian who supported well in attack and was his usual tireless tagger in defense.

Under 9s | Monty & Jack

This week's Coaches Player of the Week was Monty. Monty had clearly listened during the defensive drill and this was obvious during our games. His communication and encouragement of others was excellent and made a real difference to the game. Great effort, Monty!

Tackler of the Week was Jack. Jack's technique has really improved over the past few weeks, and he clearly demonstrated this during the game today. Well done, Jack!

Congratulations to both players!

Under 11s | Squad

Our Under 11’s have had a great first half of the season, showing great progression as a collective in the contact area and moving the ball wide into space. Looking forward to making further strives forward in 2026.

Great work from the whole squad.

Under 10s | Harry

Harry had an outstanding week, showing excellent teamwork and awareness by sharing the ball and bringing teammates into the game, especially those who hadn’t had many touches. He was rock solid in defence and relentless at the rucks, constantly causing problems for the opposition and winning crucial turnover ball for his team.

With ball in hand, Harry was a strong and determined runner and capped off another great performance by scoring some well-taken tries.

A brilliant all-round display this week — well done, Harry!

Under 13s | Oliver

Under 13’s Player of the Week goes to Oliver

In a highly competitive game, and while playing up an age group, Oliver looked assured, confident, and completely unfazed throughout.

Playing in a couple of different positions, he was right in the thick of it at every breakdown. He made key tackles, was first to the ruck on multiple occasions, and turned the ball over at crucial moments in the game.

A fantastic all-round performance — well done, Oliver.

Under 14s | Zach

Player of the match for the U14s Boys in a great performance away at Old Centralians was Zach.

Zach was chosen by the opposition for great all round play. Zach carried the ball with great energy and often made the pass to supporting players keeping the ball alive after cracking the opposition defence. He stood out for his work rate and his multiple cover tackles of the opposition’s very capable winger.

Honourable mentions go to Tobias and Riley on the wing for great effort and making crucial defensive tackles.

Under 15s | Barney

Player of the match goes to Barney. He came on early in the 1st half to step in at full back and had a great game. He made lots of last man tackles to keep Smiths out, was great under the high ball and made plenty of metres up the field. Well deserved Barney.

Also, Austin was Smiths player of the match with some great carries. Well done both.

Ravens Under 12s | Esmae & Melie

The Ravens flew out to the coast today for an exciting game against Weston-super-Mare!
Some of our girls played in unfamiliar positions today and excelled showing their hard work in training is really paying off. Even in moments of chaos they worked hard to steady the ship and get on an even keel.

Call outs go to Esmae who did some amazing ball carries and tackles. Melie shone at full back directing her team mates, showing confidence and putting in some try saving tackles!

Ravens Under 14s | Alyssa

Today’s game was always going to be a tough test for our Ravens against a strong Reading Abbey team, but I think everyone will agree that every single player brought their ‘A’ game today and worked solidly from the first whistle to the last. The result may not have gone our way, but we were super proud of today’s performance, with some excellent tackling throughout, strong running and great communication and support throughout the whole team.

Special mentions go to Emma for working really hard on making every tackle count, to Ryleigh for great hooking in an extremely strong scrum and Darcey for controlling the game and making some penetrating runs from scrum half. However, it was an easy decision to award Alyssa player of the week - she was just everywhere today, whether it was tackling, rucking and even running with some strong carries, she did everything we asked of her and more, and was even rewarded with a deserved try at the end of the game - well done Alyssa!

Under 15s | Jayden

Player of the week this week went to Jayden. His dominant carrying helping to seal the win. Well done also to Yitak who was given man of the match by BoA.

Under 16s | Harry

The U16s took a trip North on Sunday to play at Stow and had a fun competitive game played in a true rugby spirit.

Player of the Week is Harry who trained well and brought a lot of physicality to the game.

Ravens Under 16s |

Huge congratulations to the U16 Girls representing Dorset & Wilts! 🟢⚪️

Ravens players Eliza, Dotty, Bella U, Kat, Kesa, Bella F, and Lei did the club proud. Sadly, Eloise was injured and couldn’t play in this game, but we’re all wishing her a speedy recovery.

The club is extremely proud of the girls and their achievements and wishes them the very best of luck in their upcoming County fixtures.
