The Christmas break is over, the boots are back on, and our youth teams wasted no time getting stuck in!

With every age group back in action, this week’s roundup is packed with updates as the new year kicks off in proper rugby style. Here are the highlights:

Under 6s | Joe

After a long festive break, rugby was back. It was the coldest day of the season but that didn’t stop a good turnout.

This week's player of the week was Joe. Joe wanted to be a shark in fishy fishy fishy, as he liked tagging so much. Joe got numerous tags with a big smile on his face.

Under 7s | Gethin

A cold, muddy morning didn’t slow the Under‑7s as they kicked off their first post‑Christmas session against Bradford upon Avon. The squad turned out in force and threw themselves into the games with trademark enthusiasm.

Gethin took Coaches’ Player this week, showing impressive resilience after an injury and slotting straight back into the action. A strong performance and a real example to his teammates.

Under 8s | Elsie & Jackson

We welcomed Bradford-on-Avon in cold and blustery conditions. All the kids did really well, showing enthusiasm when defending and scoring lots of brilliant tries in attack.

The players of the week this week were Elsie, who scored a couple of great tries after running really good support lines, and Jackson who tried hard the whole session and got lots of tags while defending.

Under 9s | Marley & Arnold

This week's Player of the Week was Marley. Marley kept his shape in defence today, and passed the ball before making the contact. This helped his team to keep the ball alive and maintain the tempo of the game. Great work Marley!

This week's Tackler of the Week was Arnold. BoA made for tough opposition today, but Arnold was more than up to the task, making big tackles that belie his size. Well done Arnold!

Under 11s | Archie, Leo and Euan

Both new to the game, Archie and Leo were outstanding today. They showed just how quickly they’re learning, playing with growing confidence every time they touched the ball. Strong carries, improved tackling, and a real willingness to get involved made their progress impossible to miss.
Known for his electric footwork down the wing, Euan was Rucker of the week, bringing the same intensity into the rucks today. He threw himself into the contest, secured vital possession, and repeatedly shut down opposition attempts to steal the ball. A huge effort and a great all-round performance.

Under 10s | Herbie

Herbie grew in confidence throughout the game. He went from not wanting to carry the ball forward to then showing excellent support play, collecting a pass and driving forward to then perfectly time the offload to put his teammate over for the last try of the game. Well done!

Under 12s | Henry

Henry led from the front in defence organising lines and making some great hits and had some fantastic runs with ball in hand!

Under 13s | George

George hasn’t been playing rugby for very long and only joined us this season.

In a very tough game, he put in some excellent, crucial tackles throughout, showing great commitment and bravery. Well done, George!

Under 14s | Rio

Player of the match in a strong performance against Devizes was Rio.

The Devizes players voted for Rio because of his performance at 10. Rio had an eye-catching game in the fly half role - taking over during the first half after an injury.

Under 15s | Squad

Brilliant result for the U15s today at Bournemouth. The consistency of every player in both attack and defence, means that this week the player of the match goes to the entire team!

Under 15s | Daniel & Alfie

A really tough and physical game in Thatcham today and every player put in 100%.

Tough conditions with the windy and drizzle. The boys were given work ons prior to the game and they were executed brilliantly. We used a new lineout move and scored from that. The boys were told the result didn't matter and to go out and have fun which they all have.

Our man of the match was Daniel. He scrummed really well, carried hard, made some great tackles and scored from the lineout. Well done Daniel.

Alfie was nominated as Thatcham's player of the match. He also carried hard, tackled well and came away with a well-deserved try.

Under 16s | Dave

U16's Hosted Hornets this Sunday in a tough competitive game. Player of the Week was Dave who was a shining example of how to play as a forward.

Ravens U12s | Emmy

Our U12 Raven of the Day was Emmy. A huge welcome to the Ravens, her very first game of rugby, and she walked away with Raven of the week for her brave first tackles, powerful runs down the wing, and excellent offloads. A fantastic debut and a sign of things to come.

Ravens U16s | Bella

Another dominant performance by the U16 Ravens. There was some great powerful, attacking running by many of the girls which was complimented by some outstanding defence with crunching tackles. Wonderful team play and support resulted in tries from 7 different girls.  POTM chosen by her team mates was Bella.

Colts | Max

A true captain’s performance from Max. Powerful carries through the midfield, huge defensive shots setting the tone, and outstanding game management throughout. Even the referee praised the way he controlled the match and communicated with her. Lead from the front in every sense.

Ravens U18s | Gabi

Despite an unfortunate result against the Wolcats, there were clear positives to take from the game. The scrum was steady throughout, providing a solid platform, and the team showed real commitment in defence with some strong tackling on display.

Player of the Match was Gabi, who put in an outstanding performance with unbelievable tackling, showing great grit and fight from start to finish. While the result didn’t go our way, the effort and resilience shown give the team plenty to build on.

U16s | Save

Save took part in the final Bath Academy game of 2025 at Gordon School, with a winning game against Harlequins. Pictured here with coach David Evans.
