Friday night saw the clubhouse packed for the RWBRFC Ravens end-of-season awards.
Players, friends and family came together to celebrate a cracking season for all the players and for awards to be presented to the winners in both U13W and U15W teams by Chairman Chris Elias, and Sam Robinson from RWBRFC's 1st XV.
Chris spoke of the club’s immense pride in seeing the continued growth of the Ravens’ numbers. From the initial four players who didn’t want to stop playing for their club because they’d reached the end of minis, to a fantastic band of 30+ regular players.
U13W award winners were Bella Upton (Players’ Player) Julia Smith (Coaches’ Player) Lucie Masi (Most Improved Player) and Roxy Karlsson (Player of the Season, pictured below).
U15W award winners were Chloe Reeves (Players’ Player) Maisie Trotman (Coaches’ Player) Vievien Grzesiuk (Most Improved Player) and Lucy Upton (Player of the Season, pictured above).
Congratulations to all the award winners, their coaches, and supporters for an amazing first full season of Ravens rugby. Roll-on the start of the new season!
County success
Seven players from the Bassett Ravens were picked for the Dorset & Wilts U15W County squad this season. The team played yesterday in a match against Berkshire, winning 26-0.
From a team launched in a season hit hard by the impact of COVID, the Ravens girls most definitely have, can, and will achieve great things!
The Bassett Ravens are seeking new team mates to join them next season
From September 2022 the revised RFU girls’ rugby age grades will be U12W, U14W, U16W and U18W. So if you’re Year 7 and above, and would like to give rugby a try, can join us for training on Friday nights at 6.30pm - we’d love to meet you!
