So as the rugby season draws to an end, our Minis, Juniors, Ravens & Colts pulled out all the stops to finish on a high.

Let's catch up with some of the highlights:

Under 7s | Team

Amazing rugby played at the festival by all players with try’s scored and brilliant tagging!

Under 8s | Team

Well done under 8’s cracking day at Bradford on Avon festival! Special shout out to Rhys and Willem for being such amazing team players and helping out an opposing team due to low numbers. Well done guys super proud of you all!

Under 9s | Team & Dylan

Two squads from the under 9’s took part in the BOA Festival and they played some exciting and entertaining rugby. All the players deserve the accolade of “player of the week” for how they all stepped up and performed.

We had tackler of the week in Dylan. He consistently showed great determination and technique in chasing after the opposition and tackling them down. He also tackled the biggest player in the under 9’s tournament who was at least 6ft tall!

Under 12s | Finn

U12 player of the week against BoA was Finn. Strong in attack and defence and making crucial tackles against bigger players.

Also the visiting Bradford on Avon coaches picked out a player for a special mention - Finley L for good vision and reading the game with good running too.

Under 10s | Finn

The U10s had a great day at Bradford On Avon. Finn won tackle of the week for making a fantastic try saving tackle on only his second session.

Under 11s | Squad

Amazing squad performance, every player put in a shift. The team went the whole festival unbeaten. Great to see the togetherness of the group, especially on Daisy’s last game for the Under 11s. Well done Under 11s.

Under 13s | Mosese

Mosese shone in a tough game away at Brockworth. Strong in both his defensive and attacking play.

Under 16s | Bede

With an impressive half of rugby, Bede showed his experience with a mature selfless defensive display of rugby. His desire to disrupt, steal and win ball in the tackle area, rucks and mauls gave his team the best possible chance to improve the teams outcome all whilst putting his body online. Well done Bede.

At short notice Finn helped the u16s in a difficult game away to a very strong Risca side. Finn has shown his rugby ability with an excellent display of decision making, attacking prowess and confidence in defence.

Under 15s | Owen

Our man of the match today goes to Owen who has gone from strength to strength this season he carried really well and made a number of dominant tackles.

Under 15s | Lucas and Finn

Our Man of the Match was split between Lucas and Finn. Lucas and Finn both led by example and showed excellent leadership throughout the victory over Ashley Down. Lucas is workrate was excellent, 1st to every Breakdown covering every blade of grass doing everything he could to dominate every breakdown, he carried powerfully when needed and provided an excellent platform for the team to play from. Finley marshalled his team around the field controlling the tempo of play and contributing two tries and four conversions to help the team secure a great result.

Under 15s | Max and Save

Today we had 2 u14s playing up and they show real athleticism and no fear playing an age up well done to Max and Save.

Ravens Under 16s | Evie, Harley & Ava

Today was the U16s Ravens team last game of the season, and as with every game prior to this, they outdid themselves. But today's game was slightly different. Each and everyone of them played the game of the season today. I say it every week, I'm proud of them, and each week, I genuinely mean it.
They all played hard, out of position at times, yet never gave up. All of the U16s from myself and Aidans' point of view have succeeded in every aspect of the game.

This week's forward of the match was Evie Miller. Every week, she turns up, always plays her all, today was no different, took tackles, and gave them back twofold. Her skill level is advancing every game whilst providing support and consistent encouragement to her team.

Our back of the match was Harley Rose, today we saw a different Harley. She took on girls bigger than her and took them down. Pushed forward and showed the rest of the team and the opposition that she has heart and power behind her.

One more shout out to Ava Harpell, one true power house of the Ravens. She started her first ever season this year playing rugby with the Ravens. Her first game, she was nervous, and asked to play only 10 minutes. Gave her first tackle, and as I was going to swap her off, she said, "Ma'am, that was amazing. Can I play more?". Today, though, is her last game with the Ravens. But without a doubt, no matter where she is or what team she is playing for, she in my eyes and the rest of her team will forever be a Raven and we look forward to hearing about her new adventure in the next season.

All in all 2023-24 season has been an amazing adventure for myself. And I genuinely thank all the players, parents, volunteers, and coaches for supporting all of us through it.

Ravens Under 18s | Kiera

The U18s Ravens team travelled to Oxfordshire on Sunday in the final game of the season. Hosts Gosford All Blacks generously agreed to even numbers to allow for a competitive 12-a-side game. The first period of the match saw GOB take a strong lead and the game could have been out of sight had it not been for a heroic defensive effort by the team and some sublime in-goal tackling from Bassett’s fearless fullback Kiera denying the home side a further 3 tries.

The second period saw a much more even contest with Bassett scoring two early tries from No.8 Vivian and centre Kate and then late in the period combative 2nd row Amy charged over. Unfortunately, the defensive effort started to take its toll in the final period and the hosts were able to run in a couple more tries.

An amazing effort from all the Bassett girls who gave everything to the cause.

Colts | Squad

The Bassett Colts wrapped up their season with a convincing win away against Cirencester RFC. A hugely entertaining game - the Colts season truly ended on a high.
