Now that the season is gradually winding to a close, with just a handful of presentation events left to come, I thought it appropriate to reflect on the efforts made by our members to make our Golden Jubilee year such a memorable one.

I think it is our volunteer base which makes our club such a vibrant community and the efforts seen to make both our Golden Jubilee Dinner and our Sausage & Cider Festival such stand-out events have been truly remarkable.

The positive feedback we have received as a club has been fantastic, so I thought I’d just share some of the comments and good wishes that we have received of late...

"Just a short note to once again thank you for hosting the county match yesterday. I know it was a hugely busy day for you with the festival but your hospitality to both ourselves and visitors from Eastern Counties was first class and much appreciated by all."

Mike Moysey, Chairman, Dorset & Wilts RFU

"Thank you Mark… I really enjoyed the evening and can honestly say, I’ve rarely been to a better rugby function. Honestly!"

John Inverdale RFU and Broadcaster

"Just a quick note to say WOW! – I’ve no idea how you organise such a massive and successful event, at every touch point yesterday it was simply superb. Your army of volunteers are such a credit to the club and this is why the club is so special and unrivalled locally."

Martin Palmer, Imagine Cruising

"Just a short message to say ‘thank you’ to you and all at Royal Wootton Bassett RFC for your hospitality and company at the recent Golden Anniversary Dinner. It was a great honour to be invited to share in such a special evening for the club. Keep up the great work at such a fine community rugby organisation."

Phil Steele, BBC Wales

"I would like to say a big thank you for your kind hospitality in welcoming WSM RFC to your club and ground. The visit around the club and the atmosphere was one of the most impressive I’ve experienced."

Barry Williams, President, Weston-super-Mare RFC

"Please pass on my thanks to the committee who made our travelling supporters, myself and my son so welcome on Saturday. Your facilities are a credit to your forward thinking and would be the envy of all Bristol clubs. More importantly though, the warmth of welcome was reflective of a traditional rugby club. I wish you well wherever the league structures take you next season and I hope you have a fantastic 50 year celebration."

Matt Oakley Vice Chairman Old Redcliffians RFC

"Chris, please pass on our thanks to all your parents and staff for such a warm welcome and great hospitality when we visited Bassett last week. There was a great atmosphere in the club and we look forward to visiting again in the near future."

Brian Hall Risca RFC

Have a relaxing summer everyone and look forward to seeing you all next season!

Chris Elias
Chairman, Royal Wootton Bassett RFC
