On Friday we held our annual Cheese & Wine Evening to celebrate our many volunteers and the time and effort they invest into the running of our club.
The event also gave us an opportunity to reveal the winners of the 2022 Club Person of the Year awards. These awards are presented to club members considered to have made an exceptional contribution to Royal Wootton Bassett RFC. The award winners were announced by Club Chairman Chris Elias.
Senior Club Person award
This year, the Senior Club Person award was awarded to Caitlin Williams.
Caitlin, who is Team Manager for our Under 9s age group has provided immense technical assistance this year by liaising with the RFU to resolve issues with our GMS systems. Caitlin truly has become our resident GMS expert.
Caitlin was unable to receive the award in person but was awarded the trophy virtually shortly after the announcement.
Junior Club Person award
This year the Junior Club Person of the Year shield was awarded to Evan Marsh-Ballard.
19-year-old Evan was unable to receive the award in person as he is away studying Sports coaching at Cardiff Met University.
Before leaving for University, Evan supported the club's Minis & Juniors section as a coach to the Under 6s and 7s age groups, even joining them to coach during their rugby tour. The young rugby players he helped introduce to the game will agree is a very worthy winner of this award.
We at RWBRFC are very proud of the work our volunteers do and it is one of the reasons that make our club such a successful family-orientated club. Thank you to everyone who gives up their time on a continued basis to make our club such a success.
