Our Sausage & Cider Festival - sponsored by Walfins - will be bigger, better and jammed-packed with rugby action this year, with matches planned over two days.

Friday evening

McCue Cup

Royal Wootton Bassett RFC vs 8 TRG BN REME

Gates open 6pm. Kick-off 7.30pm

Kicking off our rugby-loaded weekend will be the annual McCue Cup fixture - a celebratory rugby match between Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers Battalion and a RWBRFC President’s XV, with club representation made up from across Bassett’s senior squads and our Colts team.

This annual fixture is held to honour Lance Corporal James McCue, one of the Brigade’s soldiers killed serving in Iraq in 2003, as well as the respect shown by the town throughout the military repatriations.

What were the pevious results?

2017 - 8 TRG BN REME

2018 - 8 TRG BN REME

2019 - RWBRFC

2020 - No game

2021 - RWBRFC

2022 - RWBRFC

There is always some amazing rugby from both sides in this popular fixture, and this year for the first time, the match will take place under the floodlights on a Friday night.
