Spread over two days last weekend, a lively crowd enjoyed some exciting rugby and live music while sampling a few ciders at Royal Wootton Bassett's Sausage & Cider Festival.
The festival kicked-off on Friday with the popular McCue Cup - a celebratory rugby match between REME Training Battalion and a RWBRFC President’s XV. This year, despite a strong performance from our team, the match ended 19-39 and the trophy went to REME.
The following day the rugby continued with a County double-header when the Dorset & Wilts and Devon senior men's and women's teams played back-to-back fixtures in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
RWBRFC President Chris Elias wanted to express his thanks to everyone who came along for this incredible event and to those who helped behind the scenes to put on this year's festival.
"Now that the dust has settled, I would just like to say a big thank you to all of our volunteers who gave their time to make the weekend's festival such a roaring success. This years attendance was the biggest ever and the feedback from members and visitors alike has been fantastic."
"Our guests who had travelled up from Devon for the county games were blown away by the size and quality of the day and were amazed that such a large event was put on by such a dedicated army of volunteers."
"I would also like to thank Steve Griffin from Walfins for their sponsorship of the event and parent Chris Allen of TRSS International who kindly sponsored the purchase of our re-useable beer 'glasses'. Everyone thought they were a huge success and helped cut down on our plastic waste considerably."
