Well what a day Saturday was! Once again the weather gods were extremely kind to us and the Sausage and Cider festival was a huge success as a result.
Our guests from the McCue family and the “top brass” from REME were amazed by the welcome put on for the McCue Cup fixture, and our 1stXV put in a great performance to defeat Chippenham and set up an intriguing tie at Newent RFC next Saturday, which could potentially see us through to the semi finals of the Papa John’s cup.
The feedback we have already had from visitors to the club has been fantastic, with many commenting on how well organized and managed the event was.
The festival was also a tremendous financial success for the club, which is vitally important as we continue to grow and improve our facilities and rugby offering throughout the community.
But at the end of the day, none of this could be achieved without the support and commitment of our fantastic army of volunteers who freely give of their time to promote our club and make such a memorable day. There’s an old saying which basically goes along the lines of “you get out what you put in” . Our volunteers put in so much effort, I really hope that you get that huge feeling of pride that I do when you look back and reflect on a brilliant day.
As a small thank you we will look to put on another BBQ over the summer for those helped out. Watch this space for details.
