The Minis may have stolen hearts at Week Two of our Festival — with the Under 7s, 8s and 9s showing off their skills — but the Colts made sure they grabbed the spotlight too.

Their Cup clash delivered plenty of drama, proving the older lads can still give the youngsters something to cheer about.

Here are the highlights:

Under 6s | Archie

It was amazing to see Archie jump in and give it a go today, even if he started a little reluctantly, he really got into the game and nailed loads of tags. Well done!

Under 7s | Ben & Beau

This weekend’s rugby festival was packed with energy and excitement. Our Under 7s split into two teams, which meant two Coaches’ Players of the Week:

Ben, who listened well to the whistle and scored some great tries, and Beau, who showed off some impressive speed and skill.
We welcomed lots of visiting teams and enjoyed some brilliant rugby.

To top it off, players from the RWBRFC Senior team came along to hand out the medals to everyone at the end. Thanks to all involved.

Under 8s | Arlo & Coby

Hosting so many teams at the mini rugby festival was a wonderful sight to behold. The rugby on display was excellent and it was played with the right spirit, demonstrating respect, teamwork and fun!

Lots of players did really well, with Arlo and Coby getting joint players of the week for the efforts in defence, working so hard to get tags and scoring unbelievable tries, both of them scoring tries beating the whole of the opposition at times. They also displayed teamwork while running support lines and excellent passing.

Under 9s | Oscar

U9 player of the week was Oscar.  Oscar was brilliant at tackling and got really stuck into all his games. Well done!

Under 13s | Marvy

Player of the week went to Marvy.  In a very competitive match against Witney that ended in a hard-fought draw, Marvy stood out with an outstanding all-round performance. On attack, he was relentless — scoring multiple tries, consistently finding and exploiting gaps in the opposition’s defence. His powerful runs and determination gave the team good field position. But he also put in a huge shift defensively, making several crucial tackles and showing great commitment throughout the game.

Ravens Under 12s | Squad

On Sunday, the Ravens U12s took part in Rugby Fest 2025. This included fun races, sweets and bracelet making for our thriving U12’s section. Great fun was had by all!

Under 14s | Josh

Player of the match was Josh in a tough game against Trowbridge. A last-ditch cover tackle transformed into a length-of-the-field score under the posts when the game was still in the balance.

Ravens Under 14s | Alyssa

After a meet and greet with two of the victorious Red Roses at the Melksham Rugbyfest, the U14 Ravens came up against some very strong opponents in windy conditions this weekend.

The player of the week just had to go to Alyssa this week, who was absolutely immense with her tackling and rucking today. She was just so strong and dependable, making tackle after tackle all afternoon. Unfortunately, we picked up a few injuries, with Aimee and Florrie having to leave the field, but hopefully we’ll be back to full strength for our next match.

Whilst we didn’t come away with a win today, there’s a lot to be proud of, and plenty more for us to work on in training to make sure we come back strong for our next game.

Under 15s | Kian

The Coaches man of the match went to Kian this week. Has been brilliant in the last two weeks with his blistering pace and footwork always having the opposition defence having to second-guess themselves on what he will do next. Well done Kian.

Under 15s | Jack

Player of the week goes to Jack. He was solid in attack and defence. I think I counted seven turnovers in defence. Great performance from a player who stepped up from under 14s.

Colts | Squad

The Coaches' Man the Match was given to the whole team.  It was the first round of the National Cup vs Newbury RFC Colts. RWBRFC won 40-7. A great performance, with all the training and learning paying off - they outplayed Newbury across the board!

Colts | Ollie

Ollie was declared as the RWBRFC Man of the Match by Newbury.

After a weekend like that, it’s clear our young players can’t get enough rugby — so why stop now?

Our October Half Term Rugby Camps are the perfect excuse to stay on the pitch a bit longer. Run by our very own Community Rugby Coach, Rhys Floyd, the sessions offer fun, affordable rugby for boys and girls aged 7–16 from 23rd–30th October.

Whether your child’s just starting out or already sidestepping like a pro, it’s a great way to burn off some half-term energy (and give parents a breather too!).
