This weekend’s Minis session had a twist — moving to Saturday morning so it could kick off our Annual Burger & Beer Festival.

The change worked out nicely for our coaches and parents, giving them a precious Sunday lie-in… much needed after their time at the bar!

Under 6s | Everly & Ralph

We had 2 players of the week as we split our younger 4-year-olds and the older 5-year-olds. For the younger ones, our player of the week was Everly. She demonstrated excellent listening and got stuck into everything. She is very confident and is doing very well.

And for the 5-year-olds, we had Ralph. He was getting stuck in with the actual games they were playing and was quick on his feet taking everything in his stride.

Under 7s | Tommy

Great turnout today for our Under 7s session - clearly the Burger & Beer Festival added a little extra motivation for the parents. The kids are really starting to click, with passing drills looking much sharper this week.

This week’s standout was Tommy, who earned Coaches Player for his fearless defence and excellent tackling. Well done Tommy!

Under 8s | Jack

Jack got player of the week for a great effort with his catching and passing but also asking questions on how he could improve his game for next week.

Under 9s | Skyla & Hunter

Skyla demonstrated some great teamwork, passing out of the tackle to set up a couple of good tries. She also put in a couple of big tackles herself. Well done, Skyla!

Tackler of the Week was Hunter. Hunter demonstrated a really good understanding of the contact, getting his body height low and continuing to drive until the tackle was complete. A fantastic effort given that we're in the early stages of the season. Well done, Hunter!

Under 10s | Oxley

This week was Oxley's first session with us, and wow, we wouldn’t of known! He took to the game like a duck to water!

Welcome Oxley, and well done.

Under 11s | Jack & Harry

Jack put in a huge shift this week! He was everywhere in attack and defence, making smart runs into space and battling hard in the rucks and mauls to secure the ball for the team.
Harry’s confidence is sky high right now and it showed! He smashed into tackles, made some massive hits, and powered forward with strong runs to back up his teammates.

Under 13s | Janco

U13’s player of the week went to Janco after a standout performance in our win against Hungerford.

Showing real determination from the start, Janco ran hard with the ball, broke tackles and competed strongly at the breakdown. He backed it up with some solid tackling of his own and kept driving the team forward at every opportunity. His efforts were rewarded with a superb try, rounding off an excellent all-round display.

Under 12s | Fintan

Fintan is our teammate of the week as he has been a titan in training - listening hard to instructions, learning from his mistakes, taking some hard hits, creating good space for himself and his teammates and making some excellent tackles using the techniques he’s learned.

Well done Fintan!

Ravens Under 12s | Esmae

Choosing U12 Raven of the Week was tougher than ever—every player gave it their all and had moments to be proud of. But this week’s honour goes to Esmae, who worked tirelessly in defence, made strong tackles, hit rucks, and drove us forward in attack.

Ravens Under 14s | Florrie

The U14 Ravens kicked off their season in truly testing conditions at Kingswood RFC, battling through torrential rain and a physically dominant opposition.

Player of the Match was Florrie, who was outstanding throughout. Her fearless tackling and powerful running broke through the opposition’s defence time and again. She led by example, showing incredible determination and skill.

Under 14s | Shazil

Player of the match was Shazil. A strong try-scoring performance at centre. Also Shazil was one of our players who helped support our visitors Thatcham by playing for them for some of the game.

Under 15s | Finn

Man of the match went to Finn, who helped set the tempo from the off, closing down any space they had and didn’t miss a tackle all game!

Ravens Under 16s | Eloise & Dotty

The U16 girls kicked off their season in style with a commanding victory away at Gloucester Hurricanes, despite playing in truly appalling weather conditions. The team delivered a fantastic performance, with tries coming from both forwards and backs, showcasing depth and cohesion across the squad.

Eloise was named Player of the Match for her outstanding all-round display, while Dotty earned the opposition’s vote for her remarkable performance—crossing the line five times in her debut U16s game.

The spirit of the squad was summed up perfectly in the final try of the game, a sweeping move that involved no fewer than eight pairs of hands before the ball was touched down under the posts.

Colts | Chris & Cian

Colts MotM were Chris and Cian. It was a hard game in poor conditions with RWBRFC nudging it 14-12. Chris & Cian were outstanding in defence and support in attack, well deserved award.
