Club favourite Robert 'Coops' Cooper has been selected to play for the Wooden Spoon squad attempting to break the world record for the longest game of rugby union.
The Wooden Spoon team will be going head-to-head against the School of Hard Knocks (SOHK) team from 25th to 26th August at Hazelwood, the home of London Irish.
In 2015, School of Hard Knocks established the World Record for playing a match lasting 28 hours 33 minutes. This year the game will be played with 23 players per squad, under official laws, for 30 hours attempting to secure the new World Record title for Wooden Spoon.
The squad hopes the match will raise awareness of the life-changing work carried out by both Wooden Spoon and School of Hard Knocks, whilst celebrating the game of rugby union in the run up to the Rugby World Cup. It is hoped the record breaking attempt will raise £100,000 to help disadvantaged children in the UK.
Coops has set up a Virgin Money Giving page to help fundraise for his personal contribution to the record breaking attempt. Please visit https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RobertCooper41
