Join us for our 2019 Sausage & Cider Festival on Saturday 11th May
Over recent years the event has grown and grown - and this year with the additional support given by REME and the very generous sponsorship from Fish Brothers ŠKODA, Nissan and VW Van Centre - we're sure the event will be even bigger and better. The annual event is always well attended by the local communmity, with crowds coming along to enjoy the very best in Cider, Sausages, Rugby and Live Music.
A huge thank you goes to Fish Brothers Swindon Ltd - ŠKODA, Nissan and VW Van Centre - for sponsoring this year's Sausage & Cider Festival 2019.
"It's a fantastic festival with so much going on, we can't wait to enjoy the day with everyone, and have our share of Sausages, Cider and Rugby. We look forward to the 11th of May!!"
TWO GREAT RUGBY MATCHES
Kicking off our rugby for the day is a match between Supermarine RFC Ladies vs REME Rugby Ladies at 12.30pm.
Then at 3pm we are proud to be again hosting the McCue Cup - a celebratory rugby match between Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers Battalion and a RWBRFC President’s XV to honour Lance Corporal James McCue and the respect shown by the town throughout the repatriations. The McCue family will be in attendance to present the trophy to the winning team at 4.45pm.
RIDE OF RESPECT
Our friends from Ride of Respect will again support the Sausage & Cider Festival. The mass ride by motorcyclists through Royal Wootton Bassett will pay tribute to our service personnel and their families, arriving at RWBRFC to make a procession around the perimeter of the first team pitch prior to kick-off of the McCue Cup match.
FAMILY FUN
George Scarrott and Son’s Family Fun Fair will bring along entertainment for the little ones and there will be a range of vendors and stalls to browse around the field.
Our friends from REME will also be on site with a range of static vehicle displays and Army field activities.
LIVE MUSIC
Music is always a big part of the Festival and this year we are excited for the return of popular Big Band 41 Degrees, followed by rock music from Firing Blanks - a band made up of serving REME soldiers and civilians from MoD Lyneham, then sing-along classics in the Clubhouse from Neil Diamond tribute, Peter Jones.
Entry to the Festival is £4 on the gate with Under 18s free to enter and car parking on site.
