Two senior Bassett players are putting their best feet forward for charity by signing up to run in the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon.
On Sunday 28th April, Bassett 1st XV Back Row Kyle Lovell will be pounding the streets of London to raise funds for Children with Cancer - a charity that supports pre and post treatment for children suffering with cancer.
Kyle’s charity supports issues close to his heart. Kyle was diagnosed with testicular cancer 9 months ago. “Fortunately it was caught early, and after an operation and with continual treatment, I seem to have bested the Big C.”
The 35 year old firefighter has started training for the big event. “I don’t know whether to feel excited or petrified. Dragging myself around 26.2 miles is going to need some tremendous work over the next few months.”
“I don't need motivation for this event,” Kyle assured. “I'm proud to help support the charity. The more I raise, the greater motivation for me to get off my behind and run during the coming cold and rainy nights.”

Lining up alongside the forward at the London Marathon will be Bassett 3rd XV player Ash Howells.
Ash is running for The Wooden Spoon - a fantastic charity which helps disabled and disadvantaged children and young people with the power of rugby.
Ash said, “I’m running in support of Wooden Spoon to help fund their life-changing projects across the UK and Ireland. Wooden Spoon’s values are Passion, Integrity, Teamwork and Fun, which is what I hope will help get me through the 26.2 mile course on April 28th.”
