The Royal Wootton Bassett RFC clubhouse was packed on Friday night as players, coaches and supporters from all five senior teams gathered for the annual Senior Player Awards Dinner.

With another season in the books, the evening gave the club a chance to celebrate achievements on the pitch, relive the best moments from the year, and remind everyone why rugby clubs should probably never be left unsupervised in formalwear.

As always, Dave Floyd opened proceedings with his now traditional end-of-season review, before examining the mysterious disappearance of Alan Low’s rain jacket earlier in the season.

Dave swapped the clubhouse for the 'Temple of Low' as he embarked on a perilous mission to infiltrate Lowie’s office and recover the priceless treasure before it disappeared forever. Expect ancient traps, rolling balls, suspicious mercenaries, and scenes that definitely belong in a museum... once again proving that nothing at this club is ever done by halves.

Once the laughter died down, attention turned to the awards themselves, with players recognised for their performances, commitment, improvement, and contributions across the season.

And the winners were...

First up was Tim Gallimore, presenting the “Gally’s Grafter” prize – an individual award recognising the senior player who has put in the highest level of commitment and consistency at training all season. That honour went to 2nd XV Captain Jackson Allen, who led the way by topping the senior training attendance rankings.

For the second year running, the club’s top individual honour was presented by George Loughlin to Ollie Baycroft.

As the night drew to a close and the final awards were handed out, the sense of pride around the room was unmistakable. Another season finished, plenty achieved, and even more to build on when the squad returns for pre-season.
