Today we welcomed Cheltenham Tigers to Ballards Ash on a very wet Sunday morning.
Bassett had the benefit of a near full squad, so we were more than happy to lend Cheltenham a few of our players due to some of their lads being unavailable.
The boys had a really good warm up and started off strongly where they had left off last Sunday. Bassett managed to secure the kick off and take it back with force. The Cheltenham defence was holding out well until Bassett scored the first try with a quick ball across the back line, allowing Nathan in for the first of his two tries.
The forwards were providing lots of turnovers giving our backs plenty of ball allowing us to add to our tries, including a half-the-pitch effort from our prop Kieran. It was a really good first half.
For the second half we mixed up the sides. Bassett created plenty of chances but weren't quite able to finish them off - something to work on for training next week.
Cheltenham then scored three rapid-fire tries with the help of their newest recruit 'Amua'. The final play saw the Cheltenham Tigers scrum half - who had played a really good game - score to finish the match.
Another really entertaining match with fast paced rugby and great handling skills - even in the weather conditions in which the boys had to play in. Thank you for Cheltenham for making the trip to visit us.
